What are Most Active Stocks?
Most active stocks are those that record the highest trading volume or the highest traded value (turnover) during a single trading session. On exchanges like the NSE, these are the stocks where the majority of market participants—including retail traders, institutional investors (FIIs/DIIs), and algorithms—are currently focusing their capital.
Why is Trading Volume Important?
Volume is one of the most critical indicators in technical analysis. It represents the total number of shares traded in a specific period. High volume confirms the strength of a price movement:
- Price Up + High Volume: Indicates strong buying conviction and a potentially sustainable uptrend.
- Price Down + High Volume: Indicates strong selling pressure and a potentially sustainable downtrend.
- Breakouts: A technical breakout above resistance is much more reliable if it is accompanied by unusually high trading volume.

High liquidity ensures that traders can enter and exit large positions quickly without significantly impacting the stock price.
